Pragman Labs Is Open
Hi anyone who reads this,
So, last year, my wife Laura and I tried to build out Pragman Family Farms. We 3d printed a ton of hydroponics towers and grew lettuce in the garage. What we wanted to do was create a sort of "Lettuce as a Service" provider here in Alaska. It was exciting! I got a bunch of 3d printers, got to design cool stuff and experiment. It was very fun! Unfortunately, nobody wanted any of the towers and I couldn't get any lettuce sold either. To be honest, I didn't try super hard, I probably could have marketed better/more aggressively, etc. but I also noticed that I could make way more money doing consulting, writing code, etc.
About a month ago, I decided, OK, go with what works! So this week I spun up "Pragman Labs" to run the consulting, programming, robots, drones, and the rest of this crazy thing we're trying to build! We are still trying to build out the solar-punk future here, but doing it this way is probably a more direct pathway.
Now, Pragman Labs is the new consulting home, owned by Pragman LLC, for the aviation software, AI workflow, and fabrication work that has been growing out of my shop in Anchorage. If you still want a hydroponics tower, send me an email or give me a call, I'll happily sell you one! But with Laura and I building the cabin this summer, designing web apps, and robots, and new towers, I think a new name and new vibe is probably in order.
Damn, I guess I oughta get some business cards...
The main focus is now:
- Aviation dashboards and operational software.
- Applied AI for real business workflows.
- Internal tools that replace brittle spreadsheets and manual handoffs.
- 3D printing, prototypes, fixtures, and small production runs.
I will use this blog for project notes, technical writeups, and company updates as the work develops.
Oh, and if you like this page, let me know. It's a whole new world! I wrote the old one by hand, I iterated and iterated and manually clacked away at my keyboard until I got what I want. This new layout? Largely entirely an AI rewrite. It's way cooler, and the blog tooling I was tinkering with before is actually not terrible. The future is now! Enjoy!
